I made myself a new playlist tonight. They are all acoustic or as close to it as possible. Most of them are new tracks but there are some older songs and remakes in there too. I’m fairly sure you can listen to all of these songs on Last.FM or LaLa.com

100 Movies in 100 Days: Day 62 – Quantum of Solace

I have to admit I’m a fan of Bond films, with or without the cheese. Although I do have to say that the last two have been rather lean in the dairy area. I didn’t get a chance to see Quantum of Solace in the theater so I had to Netflix it (all hail Netflix). So got the Blu Ray in popped it in and well….. it’s worth watching. Besides a few fights scenes where there doesn’t seem to be a stable camera in the world it’s really put together well. Daniel Craig does well as Bond but better than that he does a good job developing the character. It does help when this is probably the closest thing any Bond movie has had to a sequel. I do like the throwback reference to Goldfinger and how could you not want all those touch screen computers in one room. If you’re a fan of Bond or spy movies in general you won’t be disapointed with this one.

After a bit of a break for job and life stuff I’m back! I should have lots of new posts coming up.

Between the nerdtacular movie summer we have. Several DVD/Blu Ray movies to review and some live events there is plenty to keep me busy.

I’ll be seeing Wolverine this Friday and have Quantum of Solace to watch as well and in two weeks I plan on watching some good movies at the Little Rock Film Festival.

100 Movies in 100 Days: Day 61 – My Dog Skip

I’ve been working from home on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s for about the past 3 weeks. That means a lot more time in front of the computer with my dog on my lap. If you don’t know what my dog looks like you can just check in my FlickR account. Anyway all of this extra dog time helped remind me of the movie My Dog Skip.

My Dog Skip is a great movie whether you love dogs or not, but if you are a dog lover you must see this film. This movie shows how your best friend doesn’t have to be human and how you can have a heart warming tale without losing real value to the story. This movie really does make you feel the full range of emotions.

My Dog Skip premiered in 2000 and stared Frankie Muniz, Diane Lane, Kevin Bacon and Luke Wilson. This is the kind of great movie that after you watch it you want others to see it so they can enjoy it too.

My Dog Skip is rated “PG”, the only video clip I could find on You Tube was the last scene of the movie so I didn’t want to post that.

Hopefully this will be the last “update” for a while. My original intention was to take a quick break then get the blog up and kicking on a new site that I was running.

Currently that process has only made me want to pull out whats left of my hair.

So my new plan is to keep this blog up and running until that site is ready to go. So hopefully later today or first thing tomorrow we will be back up and running with the 100 movie reviews.

One of the technical problems I’m having is that I’m in the process of setting up my own domain to host my blog on on a permanent basis.

Not that I don’t like the “freeness” of WordPress, I just wanted to try it on my own.

I have the bare minimum up at (removed) but I’m still having trouble getting my side bar items set and some other issues.

I know I only have maybe 10 people in the world who read this blog but please be patient as I’m trying to get this moved over.

If you have any suggestions or can link me to some guides on how to make this smoother I would really appreciate it.

100 Movies in 100 Days: Day 60 – X-men

In the summer of 2000 X-men helped solidify the trend of making comic book movies that could make money and keep the nerds happy. Okay so maybe the nerds weren’t happy but it was still a good movie.

X-menshowed us that Bryan Singer could make a great comic book movie. It brought us the unknown actor Hugh Jackman and shot him into super stardom and we got to see Rebecca Romijn painted blue and half naked.

Those things aside X-Mentells a well put together story about Professor X’s (Patrick Stewart) ideology of how mutants can live peacefully with man and his counterpoint Magneto (Ian McKellen) who thinks that mutants should rule over man as it’s genetic superior.

I know that most people think that X2 the sequel to this movie is better, but I think that while this movie is slower because it has to show all of the origins. That makes the story richer too. X2 and X3 are good sequels though that are worth watching, both of them benefit from all of the original build up being produced in the first movie.

All movies are on DVD and ready for watching. All of the X-men movies are rated “PG-13″.
